Hello there!

We’re Chris and Hillary, the two minds and hearts behind the James The Cat brand. 

We started illustrating James years ago as an hommage to our furry pal, Midnight, who was a part of our family (and always will be) for over 2 decades. She was sassy and sweet, though not much of a cuddler and often got up to no good! 

Chris has his roots in graphic design and I am an illustrator and painter, and James just naturally became a fun project that we both genuinely enjoyed working on together.

Midnight’s kitty shenanigans always had us chuckling and one day (for a reason we can’t recall anymore) we were inspired to create a small greeting card line based on her funny habits. 

So many people enjoyed our illustrations and could relate to the drawings and humor that we eventually grew our James line to greeting cards, bookmarks, enamel pins, stickers and even handmade plushies!

We never took James beyond small markets and he’s been in our back pockets for some time while we took on parenthood and small business life together. 

But now, we feel that it’s finally his time to shine!
